On May 14 local time, the main structure of the Fujairah Station of the UAE Etihad Rail, constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group, was officially topped off, marking the completion of structural topping-off for all station buildings along the Etihad Rail line.
In January 2024, China Railway Construction Engineering Group officially won the contracts to construct three medium-to-large-scale stations—MBZ Station, Dubai Station, and Fujairah Station—on the Etihad Rail, becoming the first Chinese enterprise to enter the UAE railway station construction market. It also marks CREC’s first project in the Middle East implemented under the Design and Build (D&B) model.
Etihad Rail is the UAE’s only railway project funded by the federal government and the first national freight and passenger railway network to connect all seven emirates. It is also a key component of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network. Upon completion, the project will enhance the UAE’s domestic transport system, establish a modern rail network, and promote regional economic integration.
