Source: Date:2026年01月14日

On the afternoon of December 31, 2025, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of the Republic of Liberia, accompanied by Yin Chengwu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Liberia, inspected the Bomi Port Project in Liberia, which is being undertaken by Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd. of CREC.

President Boakai and his delegation went deep into the frontline construction areas of the wharf and harbor basin to inspect key sections of the project on site. He inquired in detail about the overall port planning, project progress, technical standards, and quality control, with particular attention to the implementation of safety production and environmental protection measures, and spoke highly of the project’s high-quality construction and refined management.

The project is located at the mouth of the Po River in Montserrado County, approximately 23 kilometers from the capital Monrovia and about 65 kilometers from the Bomi iron ore mine. It serves as a key hub connecting inland mineral resources with maritime transportation. The main construction works include one 10,000-deadweight-ton ore loading berth, a dredged harbor basin, navigation channels, and eastern and western sand-control breakwaters.

After completion, the Bomi Port Project will provide a stable and efficient maritime transportation channel for iron ore from the Bomi mine and western ore belts, greatly improving local mineral transportation conditions and strongly promoting the development and export of Liberia’s high-quality iron ore resources.
