On February 25, the first precast girder was successfully erected for the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway Reconstruction Project in Bangladesh, undertaken by The First Engineering Bureau of CREC.

The highway starts in Dhaka and extends northward to Sylhet, with a total length of more than 200 kilometers. The project will upgrade the existing two-lane road into a four-lane carriageway, with one emergency lane on each side. The asphalt-paved highway is designed for a speed of 80 km/h. The DS-10 section, constructed by The First Engineering Bureau of CREC, spans 16.8 kilometers and includes 23 culverts and 13 bridges. Each precast girder installed in this operation weighs 87.2 tonnes.
The Dhaka–Sylhet Highway Reconstruction Project forms part of the South Asian Subregional Economic Corridor in Bangladesh. Upon completion, it will open a new trade route between Dhaka and Sylhet, significantly improving road safety and traffic flow along the northeastern economic corridor. The project is also expected to play an important role in attracting external investment, reducing transportation and trade costs, and stimulating economic and social development along the route.
