
On March 5 and March 6, three projects undertaken by China Railway Construction Engineering Group under CREC in Papua New Guinea (PNG) commenced construction in succession. These include the Design and Construction Project for the 66.40-kilometer Sepik Road section from Maprik Town to Walisako Bridge in East Sepik Province, the Design and Construction Project for the 87-kilometer Sepik Road section of the Wewak–Angoram Highway in East Sepik Province, and the Wewak Airport runway upgrade, new terminal building, and associated facilities project.

The Design and Construction Project for the 66.40-kilometer Sepik Road section from Maprik Town to Walisako Bridge is located in Wewak, East Sepik Province, covering the 66.4-kilometer stretch from Walisako Bridge to Maprik Town, the administrative center of the Maprik area. The Design and Construction Project for the 87-kilometer Sepik Road section of the Wewak–Angoram Highway is also located in Wewak, covering the 87-kilometer stretch from the PALIAMA junction in Wewak to Angoram Town. Both projects commenced on March 5, with major construction works including project surveying, investigation and design, site clearing, earthworks excavation, subgrade construction, asphalt surface treatment, drainage works, road markings, maintenance of existing bridges, and riverbank protection.

The Wewak Airport Runway Upgrade, New Terminal Building, and Associated Facilities Project is also located in Wewak, East Sepik Province. Major works include construction of runway turning pads and safety areas, rehabilitation and reinforcement of existing runway and taxiway pavements, asphalt overlay at runway intersections, installation of airport lighting and runway support facilities, construction of a new apron, a new terminal building and auxiliary facilities, a power distribution system, a new pump station, maintenance warehouse, temporary site offices, refurbishment of the existing power supply station, and construction of pedestrian walkways.
