Arusha, Tanzania, July 26 (Local Time) — Emmanuel John Nchimbi, Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, accompanied by Amos Gabriel Makalla, Regional Commissioner of Arusha Region, visited the Arusha Comprehensive Stadium EPC Project undertaken by China Railway Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

Vice President Emmanuel John Nchimbi highly praised the stadium's architectural design, noting that it thoughtfully incorporates iconic Tanzanian elements, including sapphires and Mount Kilimanjaro, creating a landmark with a strong national identity and cultural significance. He also commended the completed metal roofing system and space‑grid steel structure for showcasing the grandeur of contemporary architecture.

He expressed his appreciation for the project's remarkable progress, noting that the main stadium has been substantially completed in less than two years, demonstrating exceptional efficiency and professionalism. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed on schedule, providing new momentum for the development of sports and urban infrastructure in Tanzania.

Regional Commissioner Makalla added that the stadium has become one of the most talked-about projects among local residents, reflecting the public's strong anticipation for another milestone in China–Tanzania cooperation.

The Arusha Comprehensive Stadium has a total gross floor area of approximately 41,500 square metres, accommodates more than 30,000 spectators, and stands 46.9 metres high. Designed and constructed in full compliance with the standards of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the stadium will be capable of hosting international football matches, athletics competitions and large-scale public events. Upon completion, the project will not only become a new landmark in Arusha but also serve as a model for modern national-level multi-purpose stadiums in Tanzania.

As an important project under the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the Arusha Comprehensive Stadium represents another significant achievement in China–Africa cooperation. It will fill the gap in large-scale modern sports facilities in northern Tanzania while promoting surrounding infrastructure upgrades and commercial development. The project is expected to make a lasting contribution to regional economic and social development and further strengthen the longstanding friendship and practical cooperation between China and Tanzania.

To date, approximately 90 percent of the main stadium construction has been completed. Interior finishing works, the metal roofing system and sports facility installations have all entered their final stages.

Construction of four additional training fields, secured as follow-on works under the project, is progressing smoothly. Turf installation is scheduled for completion by the end of August, while the main stadium is expected to be handed over for CAF inspection and acceptance by the end of December.
